1 day ago Morning Fellow Hams.. Will you keep it up for 7 days to hear week signals? Arrl international DX contest this weekend mate make hay while the sun shines. Can't you get some guys on that monster and keep it up a bit? Can i run a BIG patchlead to ma shack 🙂 4 days ago Proposed Licence Changes announced by OFCOM EMF website.... Unbelievable. What a farce. I'd like to see all interested licensees bombard OfCom with changes to their circumstances on a regular basis, to the point that the workload of administering this becomes unmanageable. Unfortunately I cant see this happening. Pardon me for being thick, but what is this relating to? From what I can determine, is we need to confirm to legislation on interference?
Perhaps a good subject for a Friday night chat from Uncle Bob BEM This is what happens when you platform anti-science woo. What an absolute heap of BS. Copy of spreadsheet on emf page - looks like I need to get tower up higher 2m I need 60m separation from friends and family - bugger for portable when it comes back lots of warning tape appropriate distance from ant. I have no clue what I'm supposed to do but if members of the public are within 6.3m of my radiation source they are trespassing and or 2/3 of the way up my mast 🤣 More crap to be chucked in the "snowflake file" (bin) 11-99W the spreadsheet says 3.18m for 15MHz. My property is 6.3m wide and I'm not allowed a mast or anything. Have written to RSGB for advice on whether to make a representation, and for clarification on exactly what measurements are required. Their guidance actually contradicts the policy - policy says if your licence permits >10W tx then you must meet the requirements... guidance says you can avoid the requirements by not transmitting more than 10W... so perhaps they will allow me a magloop or something, as long as I orient it N-S. Also, we'll all be limited to about 10W on 70cm and 2m in the car, and unable to use HF more than 10W (assuming that 10W guidance remains in place) since most cars are only 2m wide - and then you need to make sure the antenna is in the middle... Bums! Stinky dog bums! As far as I can see, if you declare you’re using low power, you are exempt? Is that correct? If all it takes is to declare that you're running low power, I'll just do that. load of rubbish So, just looked at the ofcom spreadsheet and followed their guidelines for entering power etc, and according to their blurb on duty cycle, even if I was to get a full licence and use 100 watts (can’t afford a linear), I’m fine. Even at 100% duty at 100w, it’s also fine. So, do we have to do anything with this data, or is it just a case of do it and file it! If it’s a part of the license requirements, it’ll be about as important as the rest of the licence requirements that you hear flouted on a daily basis. Craig when you read it says that the calculations are based on full power to try and offer a guide. It is also aware about the average. I have come across another spreadsheet which I found on the RSGB website emf-calculator-v0.1.1.rsgb.7b2.xlsx it looks complicated at first look but just follow the instructions and it's easy. You can choose different modes, power, antennas, etc and it takes into account the average powers. Overall it gives a lot clearer picture in my mind Whats a spreadsheet ? 2 days ago Just a reminder it is virtual Club night tonight from 1900 onwards. See earlier post or on the front page of the club website for the ZOOM link. It’s been a long time since the antenna has been this high. But what a difference.
Noise levels (see previous posts) has gone, so makes it easy to hear the week signals. ... See MoreSee Less

Dear Licence Holder,
We are writing to make you aware of some important changes that we are proposing to make to your Wireless Telegraphy Act licence(s) issued by Ofcom.
In February and October last year, we issued two public consultations on our proposal to formally require licensees to comply with the internationally agreed levels in the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) Guidelines for the protection of the general public from electromagnetic fields (EMF). We refer to these levels as the ICNIRP general public limits. In October, we also issued a Statement setting out our decision to formally require licensees to comply with the ICNIRP general public limits and we recently published an update on how we propose to implement that decision.
We are now writing to you to inform you of our proposal to vary the terms and conditions of your licence(s) to require you to comply with the ICNIRP general public limits. In accordance with the Wireless Telegraphy Act and your licence(s), we are giving you notice of our proposal by publishing a General Notice on our website.
We’ve put all the relevant information about our proposal including the General Notice on a dedicated EMF webpage ofcom.org.uk/emf. Here you will find details of the licence variation process alongside the background to the changes and lots of FAQs to help you understand what our proposal means for you.
If, after reading the above information, you wish to make a representation to Ofcom in relation to our proposal to vary your licence(s), you have up until the 18 April 2021 to do so. However, if you do not wish to make a representation you do not need to take any action at this time. More information on the representation process can be found by visiting the Ofcom EMF webpage.
We will consider all representations before coming to a final decision on the variation of your licence(s). We will publish our final decision on the EMF page of our website by 18 May 2021. We will explain whether we have decided to vary your licence(s) to include the EMF condition. If your licence(s) has been varied we will send you an update of it or information on where a new version can be obtained from.
In future we intend to make greater use of General Notices published on our website and may not individually contact you to inform you that we have published one. We would therefore urge all licensees to regularly check the Ofcom website or subscribe to email spectrum updates by going to the following page on our website ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/latest/email-updates.
If you have any questions about this change and what it means for you, further information can be found on the dedicated EMF webpage using the address provided above.
Yours faithfully,
Ofcom ... See MoreSee Less
