Roger’s illustrated talk will encompass his early research work at Marconi and take a leap back to the eventful year of 1935 when Radar was born out of the Daventry Experiment, conducted under the guidance of Robert Watson-Watt. After 5 years of intensive activity, a chain of 20 radar stations along the east coast of Britain was put into operation to alert the RAF of impending bomber raids. Roger will describe how all this was achieved.
This presentation will be preceded by the Annual General Meetings for IET Scotland South East Network, SERM and SE&M Network.
When: Saturday 22 May 2010 at 2100 Ends: Sunday 23 May 2010 at 0200
The 2010 Baltic Contest is this coming weekend. It starts at 21z on 22 May and runs for just five hours to 02z on 23 May, and it's on 80m ONLY. A great little contest for insomniacs. UK-stations work ES, LY and YL stations at ten points each, and non-Baltic stations at one point. There's usually loads of Baltic stations active.
