PORT SETON GALA DAY

SATURDAY 2nd June 2012

Venue: George IV Park (next to Community Centre)

The club has supported the local Gala Day for many years as we are also part of the Community. It also gives us the opportunity to “play radio” plus allowing the general public to see amateur radio in operation.

The station will consist of a FT1000MP feeding a W3DZZ antenna. It is not a big station by any means compared to what will be set-up for the Museum of Flight event in June but it still gives a great opportunity to “play radio”.The station will be set-up in a tent starting about 09:00 and finishing at 16:00.

For those eligible to try and win the VIC TROPHY for this year this is the first of the club events that you can take part in. Hope you will make an effort to do so.

If you are free to help setting up and dismantling or available for the whole event I am really looking forward to seeing you.

1st 144MHz DF Hunt

The first 144MHz DF hunt of the year will take place on Friday 11 May.

Contestants should meet at the Old Ship Inn east car park at 18:30 for a 19;00 start

DF NIGHT – Friday 11th May

Meet @ 18:30 for 19:00 start at the SHIP INN (East) Car Park, Port Seton

Cost: £2.00 per person for Club Funds

Map of Hunt Area is provided plus rules. Can also be found on the club website under downloads.

This is our first DF Night of 2012 around the county of East Lothian. The “fox”, this time GM4IKT no doubt will find a good hiding place and then he will transmits for 30 secs every 5 minutes starting at 19:00. The DF Hunt finishes at 20:45 where we retire to the Thorntree Inn for the DF Hunt debrief.

Easy to find… I can assure you it is not, East Lothian throws up some strange radio transmissions which can send you on a wild goose chase….

So do you want an evening of good fun well come along and join in. I hope you all will do.
