Thanks to Bobby P and Cambell for visiting Saturday to fix the problem we had with raising my tower. After removing the top section, the remaining sections appeared to lift FB, and putting the top section back in, without appearing to change the wiring, the tower now seems to lift FB. !!!
Cambell has also now answered my earlier questions.

Great weekend, thoroughly enjoyed it and I understand we had a very good points total. Where have all the young people gone. Taking down the antennas etc this morning we had 2 guys in their twenties and the rest consisted of 3 in mid to late 40s one late 50s, one early 60s and me in my late 60s. Our club cannot continue to compete in contests without some younger people willing to help out. So please all you young folk come and take part in contests and special event stations, i’m sure you will enjoy it.27 October 2014 at 3:17 pm #381242

Thanks guys28 October 2014 at 11:52 am #381412Cambell MM0DXCModerator
Fantastic weekend and amazing teamwork.
I know some of you heard me losing my temper a bit on Monday, I don’t know how many times I have to say it “If you take something out of a box, put it back in that same box when you’re finished with it”.
This may sound like a petty niggle but it is extremely important as these boxes go to different events throughout the year and if I provide a box thinking that everything is in it to build a particular station and what I expect to be there isn’t. its a major pain in the arse.
Its looking like I’m going to have to now go through every box to make sure what is meant to be in it, is in it.
Guys, 10 seconds of consideration from you saves hours of work for me. If you don’t know where something goes, ask me.
That all said, it was a brilliant weekend and effort.28 October 2014 at 12:16 pm #381415AnonymousInactive
Agree completely with Cambell as I have had to go from Barns Ness back to Tranent in the past to get something which had been ” forgotten” only to find that it was at Barns Ness but not where it should be. A complete waste of time and money spent on fuel. Please put things back where they belong!29 October 2014 at 5:50 pm #381658Brian M0RNRMember

Here’s my brief photographic record.
We knew we were doing something right in this contesting lark when we noticed how many moles were spying on us.
The lighthouse is a great place for radio. A tall structure from which to hang wires, and about 180 degrees of sea for a horizon.
Eventually all the towers and other antennae were erected.
The view from the beach
And we’re in business.
Could not forget this special antenna.
Sometimes a run went well
But all who contributed enjoyed it
Sometimes it takes a lot of concentration
sometimes shouting helps!
and so endeth the first day
our secret weapon on 160m
and its helper on the ground.
and so we leave the light alone for the winter, but we’ll be back.
Will you be back with us?29 October 2014 at 8:47 pm #381684Brian M0RNRMember
Great pics Geoff.30 October 2014 at 8:26 am #381789
Excellent pics Geoff, and thanks for the lovely food!
Thank you to everyone for a great welcoming weekend and if allowed I will definitely be back. What a great location. Hope the weather fared ok on Sat PM/Sun AM.
When I got up the road I couldn’t move on 10m it was that busy and it looks like that’s where most of the contacts came from.23 April 2015 at 10:56 pm #92035624 April 2015 at 8:52 am #920437
