Bob Smith GM0BWU - Silent Key
I have just received a message sent to me from Colin GM0CLN to say that his dad passed away this morning (19th April 2017) at Carlingwark House, Castle Douglas.
Bob was a great gentleman and club member who used to attend regular club nights and other club events travelling up from Castle Douglas until age finally caught up with him stopping him from travelling.
As always when these things happen I find on a personal basis difficult to find the words to express how I feel and say.
It goes without saying Bob will be missed by all.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Colin, Susan and Craig and the rest of the family at this time.
Rest in Peace, Bob ... See MoreSee Less
An absolute gentleman and one whom I personally learned a lot about portable station construction from. R.I.P. OM.
Very sad news indeed, Bob was a gent and it was a pleasure sharing my early contest experiences with him. RIP OM ... -.- 😢
I'm sure this is a familiar sight to some of you......
Just to let you know that, if you or any of the guys are thinking of coming along, Dad's Funeral will be at Roucan Loch Crematorium, Dumfries, on Friday 28th April starting at 1pm. We'd love it if you could join us afterwards at Edenbank Hotel, 17 Laurieknowe, Dumfries for tea, sandwiches and cakes
Just make sure you don't take John MacLean because if he farts there is nowhere to run !!!
Think of it a different way, if he does, we have somewhere to shove him.
Ma hoose. (I wish.) No neighbour complaints on antennas there.
Knowing my luck there's a rock next to it with some cackhead shouting, "You can't put that up there."

It's not A.R., but nonetheless I've been enjoying putting up and aligning this motorised monster dish over the weekend. Now I can tune in everything from 45°W-45°E .. several thousand free-to-air channels of mostly crap! It's quite something, working with 10GHz when you're accustomed to HF. Anyway, I'm hoping this dish will come in handy when the Es'hail 2 AR satellite goes up next year! ... See MoreSee Less
Well done nice installation.
gOOD LUCK WITH IT.kEEP US POSTED WITH HOW YOU GET ON
Looks good Tim. I had several years of fun with two motorised systems back in the analogue days. Tried to find out more about getting back on with a digital setup but not ready yet.
Could you write an article for the the news letter? I'm quite interested now.
Yes, why not. Give me a few weeks to figure it all out and see what all the satellites have to offer...

Cheese on toast with marmite could be the new Tiree Nightshift snack ... See MoreSee Less
nope, salt n pepper
That works too
Just road testing some
I'm just away to make that too but minus the marmite, that's gross!!! 😳
They don't allow marmite on the ferry. Last person got shot trying smuggle it in
Vegemite is far superior to marmite.
Bit of Lea & Perrin's!
L&P and mixed herbs is classic IOTA CoT mate. I'm trying to freshen it up but clearly the consensus is I've taken it a step too far :-)
L&P = Lemon & Paeroa, a soft drink!
