Once again I’ve been getting carried away and buying more than I need so as the 2 I will be retaining is the FTDX-5000MP(main) and the TS-590SG(back-up) I’m offering this stunning Field for sale.

It is in as near to ‘new’ condition as I’ve ever seen in a radio of this age, it is double-boxed and comes with power lead (both AC+DC) and original manual.
Now it has not been molested so won’t hit the ‘555’ however it does benefit from the addition of the Inrad roofing filter(#714) and all SSB optional filter slots have been filled (Inrad #716, XF-10SN, XF-119S etc).
I’ll also add a SignaLink USB unit, an FTDI chipped CAT lead and an Astatic 575-M6 teardrop microphone with it!
There are zero marks on this radio it really is in such good condition, the screen is bright and pops on almost immediately and it’s a pleasure to use however reluctantly it must go!
As I’d really like this to go to a club member who I know would take care of it this is the only place it’s currently advertised!

All in all I think somewhere around the £950 mark is very fair for this package, the ‘teardrop’ alone is rarer than rocking horse doodoo right now!

MORSE Training via ZOOM – Starting Monday 16thNovember @ 1845 for 19:00

I have been asked by one or two people about trying to learn Morse Code (CW) so to that end I have been experimenting using ZOOM and it appears it can be done this way. We did this a few years back but as Face to Face in the Community Centre

**Plan is I have setup a ZOOM Meeting for Monday 16thNovember starting at 18:45 for starting the CW at 19:00. Initial plan is to run this for an hour just to see how we go.**

The way it will be done is using a Program called **NUMORSE Professional**.

It uses the KOCH method of teaching, basically learn some characters until you can receive them at 90%, then add some more so the new characters and old will be sent. We continue in this manner till we caver all the characters and punctuation characters.

Characters are sent at 20WPM (Basically learn the sound of the character) but with spacing overall the speed is 6WPM

Thanks to all who came on last night. I felt it went ok as I had not done it since 2014 so it was trying to get in the "groove" as they say. Including myself there was 17 participants so a good turnout.

Try a 12 hour night shift ...

Sounds like it was good fun, should have been paying attention to my Facebook over the last couple of weeks.

Will be running it each Monday night for the future until everyone has had enough. Use the same ZOOM Link as was issued for the first session. See above in the original message

You can set it up for the same letters as on the Monday nights..... It's free but does need a login so it can save your scores etc.

Once you get it, link it to QRZ and they will sync. I found this really useful, as a lot of people will log in one but not the other, I did it and my confirm rate went up from like 20% to 60%

Right, I've emailed them my licence, driving licence, passport, cashline card and PIN along with a picture of me in my Speedos. That should be enough.

lotw is a complete pain the neck, so complicated to register then constant updates to certificates, I gave up after a while

Well, as mentioned earlier, I sent all my stuff off to these muppets and have heard nothing in almost 24 hours. I think I'm gonna bin it. Useless !!!!!!

People these days want instant replies - in my day you had to send all paperwork by snail mail. (Ok 2 years ago) - Yes pain to register but there after piece of piss

It's a complete faff to sign up and a pain in the hoop if you want to operate /p /m etc as they want you to use a new "certificate" for each location! No thank you! I just log my modest trickle of contacts under one callsign and one certificate no matter where they were from. I somehow managed to link it to QRZ dot com and the two seem to talk to each other pretty well.

Still not heard anything back from them.

CLUB NIGHT 4th DECEMBER 2020 – LETS TRY A VIRTUAL MEETING

It is the last Club Night of 2020 and it has been some year and as we are still unable to meet up Face to Face due to the Coronavirus, I thought lets try a virtual club meeting using ZOOM. I will open a ZOOM session for 19:00 on Friday 4th December and the link for access is as below. We can give it a try say for 1 hour to see how it goes and if successful we could hold further Virtual Club Meetings in the future until we can once again meet Face to Face. Looks like it. Also if you look in the Continent results your were 6/10 of all the UK stations who entered so a good result first time out. Have a look at www.contestcalendar.com/weeklycont.php if you haven’t seen it for other events.
