Thomas do you have contact details i can get in touch with you ?
Geoff the country identifiers all seem to originate from the Italian group Alpha Tango original list. Most groups adopted them in the 70/80s and with the sounds of it still do today.
Local to me i only hear a few on SSB some your way and some towards glasgow none in my area. CB as in 27/81 and Cept channels Mid band FM only i hear no one local at all maybe the odd trucker passing and if skip conditions are in i can hear the world.
there is one guy in glasgow area running a ft5k and a quadra into a vertical all he does is wind folk up seemingly was in the papers for doing so a few yeas back. I also heard one from your way tuning his amp then calling Audio Audio a few times sounded like he had a voltage problem as well. I was listening yestarday to them and the lingo and the way the conduct themselves has changed drastically
I follow threads on other forums and the general consensus in the UK is its only certain areas that have users gone are the days when every place had breakers and you could talk from lands end to john o groats if you traveled by car.
The USA still has a big following but talk that it is also dying out there as well probably more to do with the internet and mobile phone technology and the amateur exam getting easier
Yes John 12w ssb will be allowed as is AM all on the mid band 40ch to bring in to line with the rest of EU
27/81 Still allowed but only 4w FM
To be honest i dont see it making much difference as CB is more or less dead in the UK now
If you get it working i could give you a check on 6m ssb or cw just let me know or drop me a line and i will listen out and we can make a sked
