What a cool kit this is!!!

It's the QCX-Mini from QRP-Labs. A tiny little 5 watt CW transceiver that has loads of tricks up its (mini) sleeve. I've already got a couple of the "classic" QCX kits which are small enough but this one makes them look like boat anchors!

It took about four and a half hours to turn the pile of bits into a finished and aligned radio. Not bad at all!

If they sold versions with pre wound toroids I would be happy, those are the worst bit for me, when it comes to kits

"...but this one makes them look like boat anchors!..," steady on, nothing wrong with well designed boat anchors, especially like the Knox Anchor.

When you work that nice bit of African DX and you just know that they're not going to confirm the QSO. ... See MoreSee Less

Who did you get?

Couple of nice ones on Sat, Botswana confirmed straight away but the chap in Senegal, I think I'll be waiting a while..

Did he say qsl for sure ! I gave up on qsl's 20 years ago due to the poor rate of return . Now am just up front and say I don't qsl.

I got a guy in Israel back before second lockdown on 5 watts when portable. I really wanted that one confirmed and after a few attempts at prompting him I’ve just given up. Had a nice DX a couple of days ago........ for the life of me I can’t remember where it was as I type this and thought great, new country on my QRZ DX 100 award. Checked his QRZ page to find a statement saying he doesn’t do any confirmation now at all!!! Bummer.

I hadn't read that before but a fantastic tribute to who was a great guy. Sadly missed here at CPSARC.....

Fantastic words to a man who had such an impact on so many of us. I miss him terribly, but love reminiscing and recalling stories. Such a great guy

Just been having a listen round 2m FM and to my surprise and delight there was some activity on a repeater a good 50 miles away from me.
Had a listen in and was gonna call in to say good morning but they got round to talking about their "Hotspots".

Off !!

GB3LB 145.7875 worth a listen. S9 here

Got 2m and 70cm running from home. Vertical polarisation only. Lots of repeaters preset on my 7100 including some digital ones. I can hear people chatting on them from time to time, but have no idea how it works. Some day I'll get round to RTFM. Never been QRV on 70cm from home before and pleasantly surprised by how many repeaters it adds that are within reach form here.

Gb3ed is also a d star repeater, you can stop the digi noise by adding the ctcss receive code on your radio same as the tx code
