Margaret Chalmers GM0ALX Silent Key

Hi All,

It is with great sadness that I have to post this message from Gavin GM0ALW to say that Margaret GM0ALX has passed away.

Hi Bob , just to let you know that Margaret passed away on Thursday morning 1/04/2021, she died when her Aneurysm burst and never recovered , can you do the necessary and let people know , the funeral is on 13 April but of course it is for family only during these hard times , if you can please put it in Radcom as well as it will save me the trouble just now as I am trying to arrange everything , hope to get to see you all sometime in the future , take care , Gavin

Margaret was a fantastic and kind lady and a massive asset to what amateur radio was all about. She will be sadly missed by all of us who knew here.

RIP Margaret…and keep them all on their toes “upstairs”

CLUB NIGHT 2nd APRIL 2021 – DUE TO COVID IT IS A VIRTUAL MEETING from 19:00 onwards

It is the Fourth Club Night of 2021 and as we are still unable to meet up Face to Face due to the Coronavirus, so it will be another virtual club meeting using ZOOM. I will open a ZOOM session for 19:00 on Friday 2nd April and the link for access is as below. We can give it a try say for 1 hour or so and if successful again we could hold further Virtual Club Meetings in the future until we can once again meet Face to Face. I think this is better than nothing.

CLUB FINANCES
Our New Club financial year for 2021 has started (runs from January to December) and if you would like to donate towards the clubs running costs, which is £24 a year then there are different ways to do it. Normal club night the donation is £2 or whatever you wish to donate. (Must admit the Annual Payment helps me enormously, GM4UYZ)

Remember our Club Ethos is “would you like to donate” so it is up to you, but all the money goes to help pay for club expenses throughout the year.

Payments can be via the following methods:

  • Pay via the Paypal Link (Large Orange DONATE Button) by clicking on this on the club website com and what you put in goes direct to a PayPal Pool that has been set up and the beauty of this that there is no additional payment to PayPal
  • Cash – You can put this via my door in an envelope (Remember to add your name on the envelope)
  • Cheque – Payable to Cockenzie & Port Seton Amateur Radio Club. Send to my home address Can be found on QRZ.com
  • Bank Transfer – Contact me direct via text, messenger, phone or email and I will give you the Sort Code and Account Number.

Many thanks for supporting the Radio Club throughout these difficult times it is so appreciated.

Look forward to “Seeing” you on Friday

Notice from OFCOM of Proposed Licence Changes

Message from OFCOM and you should all have received the email

Dear Licence Holder,

We are writing to make you aware of some important changes that we are proposing to make to your Wireless Telegraphy Act licence(s) issued by Ofcom.

In February and October last year, we issued two public consultations on our proposal to formally require licensees to comply with the internationally agreed levels in the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) Guidelines for the protection of the general public from electromagnetic fields (EMF). We refer to these levels as the ICNIRP general public limits. In October, we also issued a Statement setting out our decision to formally require licensees to comply with the ICNIRP general public limits and we recently published an update on how we propose to implement that decision.

We are now writing to you to inform you of our proposal to vary the terms and conditions of your licence(s) to require you to comply with the ICNIRP general public limits. In accordance with the Wireless Telegraphy Act and your licence(s), we are giving you notice of our proposal by publishing a General Notice on our website.
